Wendy Kirkland to perform in Buxton

Buxton’s recently refurbished grand piano will be in the expert hands of two jazz pianists in the next few weeks.

Chesterfield’s Wendy Kirkland is taking her trio to the United Reformed Church on Saturday June 16. Wendy is touring a new show “Piano Divas” featuring the songs of Nina Simone, Diana Krall, Blossom Dearie and others.

A CD was released last year and got a rave review in The Observer where expert critic Dave Gelly wrote: “Wendy has a fully-fledged vocal style of her own… She plays proper jazz piano too and her excellent band has the settled in sound of a regular working unit… A very classy debut.”

Reviews of tour dates so far confirm that Wendy and the band are in top form. Tickets are just £10 and can be reserved by phoning Keith Savage, 01298 70705, or by email to whiteknowle@gmail.com. Doors open at 7.30pm.
